Transformed by God’s Glory

2 Corinthians 3:18 And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.

I wonder, as you look back on your life, what are the things – the people, the relationships, the circumstances, the trials perhaps, the blessings – that’ve shaped you, moulded you into the person you are today?

Many people suffer from low self-esteem because of the way they were treated in their formative years. Abuse survivors often carry scars that affect them deeply. Without doubt, there are a good many negative relationships and experiences that can shape our lives.

On the other hand, someone who’s grown up in a safe home with loving parents – rich or poor … doesn’t matter – will likely have a very different perspective on the world and where they fit into it.

For me, it was something of a mixed bag. Great parents, safe home, good education but an unhealthy dose of pride that ruined much of my early adult life. Then one day, on a very dark day –  in fact, on the darkest, loneliest, most painful day I’ve ever experienced – Jesus walked into my life. And things started to change.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. (NRSV)

When the glory of God shines into your heart through Jesus, God’s own Son, it changes you; it heals you; it fills you with a light, a warmth, a joy, a peace beyond words. And the closer you draw to Jesus, the more He transforms you from one degree of glory to the next.

Jesus changes everything.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
