God Doesn’t Lie

Hebrews 6:18 These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he says something, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. So these two things are a great help to us who have come to God for safety. They encourage us to hold on to the hope that is ours.

There’s one thing in this world that we can absolutely count on. No matter what storm blows in, how ferocious it might be, we can be absolutely certain of the solid ground beneath our feet … until it begins to shake.

What are the things that you absolutely take for granted in your life; the solid ground beneath your feet? Your family, your home, your career … the things that’ll never fail you?

And yet, though you try not to think about it, you know deep down that each one of those things will one day pass away.

Something I take as an absolute given, as do many others, is the faithfulness of God. Hey, I’m a preacher after all! But have you noticed how shaky even that seems when you’re in a tight spot; when fear undermines your faith; when that looming disaster becomes an absolute certainty?

So today, perhaps a much-needed reality check; a much-needed Word of power and encouragement:

Hebrews 6:18 These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he says something, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. So these two things are a great help to us who have come to God for safety. They encourage us to hold on to the hope that is ours.

And that … that’s why personally, I rely so much on His Word, the Bible. Because when God says something, it’s true. He cannot lie. So friend, I encourage you … run to Him for safety, and in Him hold onto the certain hope that is yours. Because …

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
