Our breakfast team spoke to two of the roleplayers in today’s taxi strike. Mr Jay Jay Adams, Chairperson of the Retreat Taxi Association and the MEC for Transport and Public Works, Mr Donald Grant. They clearly give two different sides to the current strike situation and the reasons for it. Either way it’s a great cause for concern due to the violence taking place across the city. Taxi Violence

  The strike has since got more violent. Buses in Delft and Khayelitsha have been attacked and several people injured. SAPS is trying to stabilise the situation. Buses from Nyanga Police Station have since moved towards the Airport area. The City of Cape Town has refused to deploy metro police to assist lives the working class vulnerable and exposed to danger.
