The strike has since got more violent. Buses in Delft and Khayelitsha have been attacked and several people injured. SAPS is trying to stabilise the situation. Buses from Nyanga Police Station have since moved towards the Airport area.

The City of Cape Town has refused to deploy metro police to assist lives the working class vulnerable and exposed to danger. We have verified that in Nyanga and Khayelitsha there has been no presence of metro police as promised by Mayco Member for Safety and Social Service Cllr JP Smith.

A dairy bell truck has been torched in Govern Mbeki Road near Electrical Depot. The road from Fezeka Municipal building has since been closed. Various raods in and around Nyanga have been filled with rubbled and stones. We urge for motorist to be on the look out.

It is our considered advise that people rather call in at work and not risk their lives. We further appeal to people not to be on the streets but stay at their houses because it is going to be difficult for police to seperate those who break the law. Please share with others.
